Counselling
At Rainbow Community House, we pride ourselves on providing low-cost and high quality therapeutic counselling. We take an affirming and person-centred approach to practice, and we’re happy to start working with you from wherever you’re at.
Counselling
-
Once a referral is accepted and triaged, and a counsellor is available, clients are offered a package of 24 sessions with one of our counsellors.
After completing their 24 sessions, clients may finish with us or can have a 3 month break from counselling before being added back to the waitlist for more sessions.
-
Common experiences clients have that we see include:
Gender and sexuality
Self-injury and suicidal thoughts
Interpersonal relationships, family conflict, bullying/discrimination
Trauma
Self-esteem and body image, including dysphoric and dysmorphic experiences
PTSD/C-PTSD, BPD
Low mood, depression, anxiety
General emotional wellbeing
Neurodivergence including Autism and ADHD
-
Sessions are generally 60 minutes long and may be done in person, or via telehealth.
The frequency of sessions is typically fortnightly but can be less frequent. Sessions may be more frequent, at the discretion and availability of your counsellor.
-
We believe that finances should not be a barrier to accessing counselling and support.
We use a sliding scale and base session costs on income and funding resources. The most someone would pay for a session is $120, and the least is fully subsidised (free).
-
We accept self-referrals and referrals from professionals (GP’s, support services, schools etc).
Once your referral is received, you will be added to our waitlist and will be contacted for triage/intake.
If you’re interested in accessing counselling with us, please complete a referral form and email it to info@rainbowch.org. If you are a service provider referring someone else, please complete a service provider referral form.
You can call or email us to discuss a potential referral if you would like to know more.
